can i / how do i backup/ save programs (including some i downloaded from the
internet) to a cd or dvd? can i / how do i backup/ save a whole program,
complete - whith all its files, folders, ect....? if not, how i find every
last one, i have noticed some programs/ downloads like to "spread out", and i
have learned (the hard way) that a program wont function if even just 1 file
is missing!!
also, would i be able to use the cds/ or dvds to redownload the programs on
to a different computer? ( i have windows xp sp2, i have read up on the
windows backup utility, it cant backup/save directly to a cd-rw drive)

You can't backup programs by copying the program folders. You need to
backup the installer executable that you downloaded from the Internet
to cd or dvd. Then you will be able to install the program on another
computer.

I have no idea from where you got Yahoo Site Builder. Googling for it
brings up Yahoo link where you can get a CD sent to you, so perhaps
that's what you did.

An example of a program where you don't have a physical CD would be one
that you downloaded from the Internet - like iTunes for ex. When you
download iTunes/Quicktime, you get the installer which you then
double-click to run. If you wanted to save the installer, you'd burn it
to CD.

It doesn't matter whether you burn to CD-R or DVD-R. Make your decision
based on the size of your data. A CD-R holds 700MB; a single-layer
DVD-R holds 4.3GB. Naturally, you must have a DVD burner to burn DVD's.

You may find the information at this link useful for backing up:

If you scroll down a little further, I've listed what you will need if
you ever need to reinstall Windows, also.
