can i / how do i backup/ save programs (including some i downloaded from the
internet) to a cd or dvd? can i / how do i backup/ save a whole program,
complete - whith all its files, folders, ect....? if not, how i find every
last one, i have noticed some programs/ downloads like to "spread out", and i
have learned (the hard way) that a program wont function if even just 1 file
is missing!!
also, would i be able to use the cds/ or dvds to redownload the programs on
to a different computer? ( i have windows xp sp2, i have read up on the
windows backup utility, it cant backup/save directly to a cd-rw drive)

For expediency's sake, here is the answer. You can't back up programs by
copy the program files. You need to back up the installer executable
that you downloaded from Internet. Then you will be able to install the
program on other computers.

When you download a program from the internet, select save instead of run as,
save the file to your desktop, you can then click on it to install the
program to your hard drive.

If you burn the file you downloaded to your desktop to CD with windows XP's
built in CD burning wizard you will then have a copy of the programs
installer on the CD, this can then be used to install the program on other
computers.

Once you have a copy of the installer on CD you can then delete the file off
of your desktop.

Hope that helps ?
