Can a linked includetext field update if it's a form field

I have a source form document and several target documents that use some of
the same field input as the source. I would like to only input the updates
once.

The source document uses form fields so I can protect the document text and
layout, however, when I try to use includetext and link to a form field
bookmark, I cannot get the field to update in the target documents. I am
using Word 2003.

Does anyone know how I can make this work? Thanks.

Use INCLUDETEXT fields. You can point to a document AND a bookmark within
that document. You can use your formfields as bokmark to point to. But, with
formfields, you need a switch to prevent Word from trying to update the
formfields in the target document. So, your field would look something like
this:

{INCLUDETEXT "C:\\My Documents\\FormFields.doc" Text1 \!}

Where Text1 is the name of the formfield from the formfield property dialog
box and \! is the switch that prevents updating. The {} mustbe inserted with
CTRL-F9 or use the Insert > Field dialog.
