Calendar item contains Excel file shortcut-file not current

I have created a calendar item that has a shortcut to an Excel file on c
drive. As a test I updated the Excel file and went back to Outlook and it
did not contain the updated changes.
Do I have to create a new shortcut in Outlook everytime I update the file?

Yes it is a copy so I changed it to a shortcut and it is saying that it is an
unsafe documents. How do I work around this?

is it a link to the original file or is a copy of the file attached?

What version of Outlook?

Not sure if this regkey will affect it (I never tried it)

It works for toolbar buttons and shortcuts for sure.
