Hello,
I have a small home office with 3 of us connected to a Windows Home Server (
WHS ) box as our file and backup server. This is working great (it's an HP
EX475 upgraded to 2GB or RAM).
We have recently upgraded our computers to Office 2007 and I see the great
potential of using Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager ( BCM ) to
share our project contacts, tasks and calendars together.
When I install BCM, it installs a copy of SQL Server 2005 on my local
computer. But to share contacts and all together, I would like to set it up
such that the database itself is running on the WHS. We are running on
laptops, so I would not want all of this data to be stored on one of the 3
computers.
How should I do this? What are different solutions to make this work? I'm by
no means a server or database expert, but my computer skills are pretty
strong to try different solutions.
To throw one possible approach out there, would the very blunt solution of
installing BCM directly on the WHS through a remote desktop connection simply
do the trick to create a BCM database on the server?
I'm looking for a viable solution for a very-very-small-business... with an
efficient setup.
