Burning:CD-RW OK, CD-R not OK

Hi,
Recently I've successfully burnt onto CD-RW but that won't play on our CD
player: "No disc". I read that if I burnt onto CD-R this problem should go
away. I've set the speed at the right setting, and below. But when I insert
the CD-R my computer takes a look at it (flashing lights) but does not
recognise it. Before buying a different brand, I thought I'd ask for help.
TIA, Martin

Thanks, Zachd[ms]. I now understand why my CD player does not play CDRW discs
that I have burned. I've still to understand why my computer will burn onto
CDRW but not onto CDR. It does not recognise that I have inserted a blank CD.
Any ideas ?

This is usually a bad CD Drive. (Asuming that the software is OK.)

No, this should just be your car player not supporting non-finalized CDs:

I have the same problem with CD burning. My CD burning seems to be
successful, but when i try to play them, the no disc message appears. I've
tried playing on a DVD player and on a friends stereo , but the problem
persists. I've read the comments posted by people with the same problem, but
it seems that there are no answers. I know it's not a problem with the DVD
and stereo, because they play pre-recorded CD's OK. I've been recording on
CD-R's. Has anybody got to the bottom of this problem?

Make sure you're finalising the CD. If you don't, only your PC player can
use the media.

Cheers,
Jerry
