Problem burning CD-R

N

Nao

I have made a project and saved it in my PC as a .wmv file by using the
MSMM2. The contents are jpeg pictures, video transitions and some sound
effects.
I want to burn this file to the CD-R discs with my Pioneer DVD-R/RW drive,
and give them to my friends to see on their consumer standalone DVD
players(CD-R supported). I used the freeware DVD Flick to burn it, but the
burnt disc failed to play. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with this software.
The user guide does not help much. Any help will be appreciated.

Several issues here:

A CD-R supported DVD Player will play CDs that
contain JPEG image files...not .wmv movie files.
Most Stand Alone DVD Players will play VCD.

A CD would be used to create a VCD (Video CD)
and DVD Flick does not have that option. The trial
version of InterVideo WinDVD Creator can be used
for that...I can post instructions if you want to try it.

You need to use a DVD blank (not a CD) in DVD Flick.
Here is some info on DVD Flick:

Be sure to read the Guide:
http://www.dvdflick.net/guide.php

Tutorials:

DVD Flick Tutorial
http://beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html

Burn Any PC Video Format into DVD
http://www.freevideoworkshop.com/dvdflicktutorial.htm

To create a basic Video DVD that should play in a free
standing DVD player...try the following...

Good luck.

First...read the DVD Flick Guide to familiarize yourself
with the program.

Open DVD Flick and insert a blank DVD in your burner.

If your computer's Autoplay window opens....just close it.

Click the Project Settings button and go to...Video /
Target format...residents of USA...choose...NTSC /
Accept.

Left click the Add title button and browse to your
Movie Clips and select the ones you want on the DVD.

You can arrange them by selecting one and then use
the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

Left click the Create DVD button / OK / Yes / Yes.

Wait while the DVD is created.

When the text "Finished Successfully" appears you
may close DVD Flick. Now you can eject your DVD
and play it in your DVD player.

At some point you may wish to purchase more
advanced software like Nero, Roxio, Ulead, etc...but
at least this is a start.

=======================================
Here are some basic steps that
work for me...

Insert a blank CD-R in your CD Burner.
(if a dialog opens asking what you want
to do...close it)

Open WinDVD Creator.

Click...Create New Project button.

Import button...browse to the video/s you
wish to use. Open them in the program.

Drag the clips to the cells at the bottom
of the screen in the order you want them
to play.

Now you can add your music. Audio
Library button / Import / select the file
and open it. Drag the file to the clip
you want it associated with.

Make Movie button...

Format: VCD...

TV System: NTSC...(I don't know your
location...you may need PAL)

Click the arrow to advance to the next screen...

Burn to disk button...

Click the right arrow to advance to the next screen...

Select your CD Burner...

Burning Speed: Optimal...

Start button...

Wait while the program burns your VCD...

When the disk ejects...try it in your DVD player...

Good luck.

John.
Thanks for your basic instructions.
It appears straightforward and I'm sure
I can follow the steps with no problem.
Unfortunately, I can not locate the free trial version of
InterVideo WinDVD Creator in Corel's FreeTrial site.
Am I overlooking something?

Hmmm...it appears that it is discontinued
and is no longer available from the Corel site...

Try the following link:

WinDVD Creator 3
http://www.brothersoft.com/windvd-creator-download-26874.html
( click on "Click to Download")

It should still work for 15 days.
