Burning Mp3 Music to CD-R Frustrations

I have a number of tracks mp3s which I downloaded from www.allofmp3.com
website

Its a long time since I burned a disc, the discs I have are Sony CD-R
that means they are BURN once only compared to the CD-RW ones am I
right.

I thought you had to format a new cd before you could even attempt to
use it I could not find this function in my Nero Express Software(Is
this cut back software that you need to pasy to get full
functionality?
upgrade)
Anyway I selected the mp3 files I wanted to burn they seemed to
transfer ok but when it auto verified everything was OK on the disc
it
failed this test.

There is a Cd Player in Windows XP but I cannot seem to find it
I tested the "burned CD" in my Portable Music Player that has a
radio, tape and cd player, all I heard was a silent hiss nothing?

I know there are issues with Play back equipment when it comes to
mp3s
where am I going wrong do I need to invest a new portable specialist
Mp3 player similar to a ghetto blaster not the Mp3 player with
headphones variety.?

Thanks

You don't have to format the cd. For mp3 just do a data burn. View the disk
for mycomputer and dub click one of the mp3s and should bring up windows
meda player.

And your right, lots of old stuff won't play mp3's.
