BSOD - NETBT.SYS

F

Franz Prilmeier

Hello NG,

I have severe problems with my windows xp installation since a
reinstall. At first there were two reasons for a bsod, I was able to
resolve one of those two errors, but the second one is out of my
scope.

The common pattern of both bsod was that it happened during internet
browsing. There are no problems offline. So I thought (and still
think) both problems must be interrelated. Therefore I will begin
describing the first error.

The first error was the result of an irq conflict: My isdn card (An
AVM Fritz! Card) shared its irq with the video card. I was able to
resolve that issue by changing the PCI slot of the isdn card. The BSOD
of the first error was pointing to afd.sys, error code was 100000d1

The second error is still there causing a system halt nearly everytime
I surf the internet for more than 10 minutes. There is no reason given
like ..._NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (I don't remember that exactly - This was
the reason given in for the first BSOD, pointing me to the resource
problems). Just an error code, 1000007e and a driver name, netbt.sys

The detail error message in the event viewer are all similar in the
first parameter of the error which is either c0000005 or 00000001.

System details:
Windows XP Professional SP 2, German edition
(There is currently no other Hotfix or Update installed, because I
cannot download anything)

Hardware (Activated):
Intel Pentium IV, 2,7GHz (no hyperthreading)
1024MB RAM

PCI/AGP devices:
NVidia GeForce 5700 FX, IRQ 16
AVM Fritz! Card, IRQ 19
Onboard Realtek AC'97 Audio, IRQ 18
Onboard Realtek RTL8139 Network card, IRQ 19
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS, IRQ 17

Other devices:
Two Harddrives, Maxtor 6Y120L0 and Samsung SP1604N
DVD Drive, JLMS DVD-ROM LTD-166S
LITEON DVDRW LDW-811S

Hardware (Deactivated):
SMC 2802W WLAN Card
All IEEE 1394 (Firewire) Network adapters

Propably related Software:
Kaspersky Firewall - Anti Hacker, Version 1.5.119.0
Kaspersky Anti Virus - Version 5.0.121
Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 (I use a combination of restricted
user/virtual PC for browsing the internet)

The crash seems to be independent of the network action resp. used
application level protocoll or application. I had the crash during a
ssh session, imap mail browsing or www sessions. I think it's somewhat
hardware/driver related, but I cannot resolve what hardware/driver is
the root cause for these problems.

Any help appreciated

Kind regards,
Franz
