Brower freezes at launch during "Detecting Proxy settings"

Greetings;

This happens about 50% of the time while launching IE6. I
have XP Home, RoadRunner ISP, Linksys Access Point
Wireless network. I can always directly connect to POP3
email via OE, can directly connect to online Real Player
media via shortcuts, but when I try to launch IE6, it
sometimes hangs at "detecting proxy settings". Multiple
attempts will finally connect. I also freeze while on the
net. Not all the time. Any ideas? I have no idea if it
is the wireless network, RoadRunner or a quirk in the
browser. HELP!

I am having the exact same issue. I notice that when I
look at task manager when this occurs IE only registers
about 2000K of memory usage, otherwise when it loads
normally it will load 9000K of memory. Any clues would be
appreciated,

Steve
