Boot up then Locked up

When I boot up Windows XP Pro and leave the room for a few minutes, when I
return to my computer it is locked up. However, if I sit and watch the boot
up and when it is finished if I click on an icon or go to a website then
everything is fine. A delay between boot up and typing a command locks the
system up.

The only thing I can think of is that it is a power management or screen
saver issue. Try disabling both and see what happens.

Thanks Ron, but power mgmt. and screen saver are not the problems, they are
all turned off including hibernation. Seems to me this started recently
after I did a non destructive rebuild of the OS, which went off without a
hitch. -Charles

Hi Charles , go control panel | keyboard and /or mouse | hardware |
properties | power management | and see if " allow this device to
bring the computer out of standby " is checked . If so , uncheck .
