Boot Problem

P

Phil Rockwell

I got a fairly new installation of Windows XP that worked
and upgraded the mother board and CPU. It now will not
boot up. I get the first Windows screen briefly then it
flashes a message on a blue screen for an instant and
reboots. Can't read the message or pause it long enough to
see what it says so don't know what its problem is. I
tried the option of boot logging but it gives me no
information. HELP! How can I find out what the error
message is ?
TIA

Did you say that you change the motherboard and CPU? Is the motherboard the
same or at least with the same chipset?

I changed the mother board and CPU for a Pentium III on an
ASUS P2B board to an AMD on a SOYO K7ADA board. I get a
message but can not read it.

Your best bet is to reinstall XP. You have made some major changes on your
system. Trying to do repair on your system will just create more headache
for you. You went from Intel 440BX chipset with Intel CPU to an ALi chipset
with AMD CPU.

Looks like you got hardware problem. You must have change the memory also
since the new board requires DDR. It will be hard to troubleshoot your
problem. One thing you could do is provide the us the complete hardware
list. Maybe somebody with the same hardware can help you.
