Hey :D I scratched my XP Pro SP1 CD and after a few attempts, I managed to copy all the files from the CD to my computer. The damaged files appear to be intact.

I added a boot.ima file to make a bootable CD, burned in Nero and went to try it out- the pre-load works fine, but just as the actual install starts, it asks for an XP SP1 CD to be installed. If I swap from this new CD to the original at this point, setup continues fine, but its a hassle and a curio.

Seeing as the CD content should be the same and im 95% sure that the file copy was complete, why am I getting this message? Did I use a non-ideal boot.ima file?

Cheers!

Don't know what a boot.ima is . To make backup copies of my XP cd I copy the whole cd to hdd and then burn with Power ISO or Ashampoo 6. The copies work just fine.
