The blue screen will appear at random times and lock up the computer forcing
your to restart it. Normally this happens after your license expires but my
windows has been activated so why is it still locking up?

Hey Sean,

I guess this is the 0x00000098 STOP error? FWIW, I have only ever heard of
this STOP occuring, in the context of an evaluation copy expiring (ie, it's
a genuine error). Are you 100% certain you nvever had any beta version of
Vista installed on the machine? And that you installed Vista from official,
Microsoft manufactured DVD media?

If you are 100% sure your copy of Vista is a fully licensed Upgrade,Rretail,
OEM or Volume Licensing copy, and you still get this error, then ... I would
start to suspect a virus or possibly a root kit. Update the signatures for
your antivirus app, and run a full system scan.

As with any blue screen or app crash, you can get info by going to Control
Panel, System Maintenance, Problem Information and Tools, Problem History,
View Problem History. There shoudl be a record of the crash. Double click on
teh record to see details. Thsi might give a few clues.

Other folks may have extra info for you; hope this helps a bit anyway.

Andrew
