Blue Screen/Lovesan Worm

Ok, I downloaded the patch to disk, but I can't get windows to load,
even in safe mode, to install it on my windows XP OS. Did anyone else
have this problem? Is there anyway to get past the blue screen to load
my patch? I would really hate to have start over from scratch and lose
all my information on my computer (not to mention that I put my XP
disk in that infamous safe place that is now safe from me as well as I
can't remember where the heck it is!).

Any help you all could give me would be greatly appreciated.

If you have to ask if your copy of XP is 32 or 64 bit, it's 32.
