BLUE SCREEN KILLING ME!!!!!

After 4 months, there is no resolution regarding blue screen error messages
with Dell. I am running XP MCE.

Today the message is:
Stop: 0x0000000D1 (ox000000028, 0x0000002, 0x00000000, 0x84B564D)
CLASSPNP.SYS - Address F84B564D base at F84B5000, Datestamp 41107ec2

the message appears to be different each time. Today, the computer was
"beeping" & I had to try to boot about 3 times, only then to get blue screen
after desktop finally loaded. Can ANYONE help me with this issue...it's
getting VERY FRUSTRATING to say the least!

Try Start, Run, type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and hit Enter.

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System
File Checker (Sfc.exe)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310747

After doing this reboot the computer.

If the problem persists there will also be Error Reports in Event Viewer.
Please post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone ever asked you to look at Windows Event Viewer? It can be
helpful in determining the cause of intermittent problems. (Control
Panel - Administrative Tools).

Just from the info you've given, it sounds like it could be a problem
with a device driver. Have you and Dell installed all the latest drivers
for the hardware installed in your system? That'd be my first move.

"MOST" of the messages have included the D1 which they say is a Device Driver
problem. But, Dell keeps saying it's hard to seek out. I did look on "my
own" from previous responses to this post at the Event Viewer, but I can't
make "heads or tails" of it myself....I'm not THAT computer literate unless
someone explains it to me. Dell has offered no help regarding updating
drivers. Just said I would probably have to restore system to it's factory
shipment condition. Of course, I've backed up documents, but I'll have to
install my other programs. My question would be, IF I install them again,
won't I possibly have the same problem!? These same programs work fine on
our 2nd computer.

I'm at my wits end! Can you explain what to notice on the event viewer?
Perhaps that would give me an idea! I would not know where to start about
drivers without some help.

Today the computer has booted up twice "just fine"....no blue screen!
Yesterday it had a problem with "beeping" when I tried to boot up & took
several attempts!

No Dell has offered nothing regarding drivers! They did say it was probably
the problem, & said to restore to factory shipment condition (backing up
documents). That would mean I'd have to install programs again, which may
lead to the same problem. They said my programs can cause a driver problem.
These same programs work fine on our 2nd computer (XP Home Ed).

I ran Event Viewer, but know nothing about how to interpret it. Any help
would be appreciated, and well as info regarding drivers. I'm illlerate
regarding those procedures, but usually can handle matters if guided thru it!

Isn't Dell support wonderful?

Right-click on each Error event and click properties. This will give
some information on the error but only M$ can decode all the crap - and
that's only on a good day. I usually just pick out a few key words from
the error properties then Google them. I also look for patterns of
errors and times that coincide with actual problems.

Your original message said that you were hearing beeps sometimes on
power-up. That's almost always an indication of a physical hardware
problem, like a bad memory chip or motherboard. Are you still hearing
the beeps and did you tell Dell about them? If not, tell them and be
persistent about getting an answer as to the cause of the beeps.
Motherboards have low level diagnostics (called POST - Power On Self
Test) built in that check for major hardware failures on power up. If
one is detected, the screen will remain blank and a series of beeps will
be heard. The number of beeps tell you which piece of hardward is the
culprit. Check this out:

Good luck,
