Blue screen after changing MB

Everytime I change a motherboard in a system runing xp I
get a blue screen. What can I do? I tried starting in
safe mode and sometimes that works but I can't get back
to normal mode. I dont want to have to reinstall xp and
loose everything on the hard drive.
