blank message body in old OE messages

R

Roger Liver

The day started ok, then I installed SP2. A complete disaster, and I
uninstalled it.

Now OE does not work. The message body in old messages are now blank. In
other words yesterday there were things in the message body of all of my
saved messages, and now they all are blank. Even stranger when I try to
create new mail, I can't type in the message body. So this has nothing to
do with receiving new messages.

The way I found to make OE work properly (messages displayed and can post
messages such as this one) is to start OE from doing a search on OE in the
Help and Support Center and then starting OE by clicking on the 'start
Output Express' hypertext. Then OE fires-up and work ok. I suppose I could
always start OE that way, but there has got to be a fix.

I did do a search on the OE executable msimn.exe. There were two versions.
Opening OE by clicking these executables did not fix the problem.

Any help will be appreciated!

Some things to try:

Go to Start
Then select: Run
Type in: regsvr32 inetcomm.dll
Then press Enter.

If that didn't work then in Outlook Express
On the Menu select Tools
Then select: Options
Then select: Read
Then select: Fonts
Change the default encoding setting to Western European (ISO)
Finally in Internet Explorer delete the Temporary Internet Files including all
offline content.

If the problem persists it may be due to spyware/malware/parasites:
