Why does Outlook Express hide attachments from one Sender

My home Outlook Express email hides attachments from my work Outlook
email account/address. The email message shows up fine, but with no
appearance of an attachment (no paper clip, no x'd out box, nothing).
My home OE receives attachments from others at the office just fine.
To bypass this, at work I send emails with attachments to a co-worker,
and have the co-worker forward that message to my home OE; which
arrives just fine.
I say "hides attachments" because if from OE I view the Properties of
the message, and Message Source, I see reference to the attachment,
and the message size reflects the attachment. So I believe the
attachments make the trip - but is somehow hidden by my local OE.
I've tried sending plain text, HTML, and rich text. All show up fine
- but no attachment.
My work email address is not a blocked sender on my home OE.
My work email address is defined in my home OE address book.
My home OE is 6.00.2900.5512 running on Windows XP 5.1 Service Pack 3.
Obviously, I'd like to fix this problem and be able to receive
attachments from myself at home. Help!?

I expect that your Outlook at work is sending using Rich text email format.
Try changing it to Plain Text.

On a different note do you have permission from your employer to download
work emails on your home computer? (Just drawing your attention to what
could get a bit sticky if you haven't....)

Correct except it's HTML. I strip this out by saving the message with "save
as" then loading that file into notepad/wordpad and removing everything from
below:

Just above the header for the file(s). Can be quite long. The file "text" is
noticable by it's shear block size.

Then save the file. Quit notepad/wordpad then open the file. Voila! The
attachments will be visible. If it doesn't work just start over until you
get the correct parts out.

Even if it doesn't work for this it should help others. Lots easier doing
slideshows on the desktop than in an .eml. :^b

Short answer: OE cannot deal with OL's RichText or HTML formatting properly,
especially when there's an attachment. Request that any OL users only send
messages to you in Plain Text format.

Don't send RTF.
It can be set recipient specific:

Addresses in the Personal Address Book
End users can modify the Internet addresses in a personal address book
(PAB) to prevent sending RTF information by clicking to clear the Always
Send To This Recipient In Microsoft Exchange Rich-Text Format check box
in the SMTP - Address property page of the Internet address in the PAB.
To obtain the properties of an entry in the PAB, click the entry, and
then on the File menu, click Properties.

Outlook hasn't used a PAB since Outlook 2000.........
