When i try to install Win XP on this system it gives me the following error
can anyone help please?

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prvent damage
to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: framebuf
If this is the first time you've seen this error screen, restart your
computer. If it appears again, follow three steps:

The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates
problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the
hardware incorrectly.
Please check with your hardware vendor for any driver updates.

assistance.

A google search seems to suggest this is a video driver (e.g.
http://www.video-drivers.com/drivers/73/73906.htm). I'd be checking for
updated drivers and the hardware compatability list before doing anything
else.

You need to format your dell using ure windows xp pro

You need to check that the first boot is the CD-ROM drive check first if the
cd-rom drive is in first boot by putting the windows xp disc in and watch the
boot screen till it say boot from cd-rom then u press any key if you dont see
that u need to go it to the bios by pressing delete as soon as u turn your
computer on or pressing F12. If you go into the bios there will be menus
press the arrow keys till you get to something that says boot the for first
boot select cd-rom. when you press F12 a menu might just select cd rom as
boot.

when it asks u to boot from cd-rom press any key then it will take u to a
blue screen and it will have words going by at the bottom u dont need to pay
attention now after a minute later a menu will come up press enter to install
then just press F8 when a lot of writing comes up then it comes up with do
you want to repair press escape (esc) then u will have the C: drive labled
WIndows XP Profesional. delete that partition by looking at the bottom and it
will tell u what to do once youve deleted the partition press enter on the C:
drive then select Format Dive using NTFS then ure computer will format the
Drive install files on the blue screen as the formating looked then your
computer will restart then it will go into the windows installer then you can
do it from there it is simple
