BCManager 2003: Problem Connecting to the Database Engine

Hi,
I bought a PC a few years ago and just upgraded it yesterday. I have been
re-installing all my software and transferring all my downloads and such. My
huge headache comes when I try to use BCM. I have now re-installed in the
hopes that I did something wrong the first 3 times - this is just not the
case.

I do not see an option to 'Enable' BCM (only BCM Help & View the Tours).

When I activate it for use wth Outlook 2003 I get the 'Problem Connecting to
the Database Engine' message. When I troubleshoot it says 'Contact Support'.
AAAARGH!

The same problem occurred with my previous machine and I just gave it up as
a bad joke. I am determined to get to the bottom of this. Please, can
anyone help me?

I have the disks (Microsoft Office SBE 2003 with BCM) - both and have loaded
them and followed all instructions to the letter.

Any help you can give me is so very much appreciated.

Try creating a new Mail profile and using it with Outlook. Does it
prompt you to create a database?

Thanks for replying Luther. I have tried every avenue and have also tried
your suggestion. I get no offers to set up anything. I have also discovered
that everytime I re-start Outlook (or indeed any of the Office products) I
have to 'accept' the contract and only then can move on.

I am now at the end of my tether.

I'm not familar with this "accept the contract" UI with all Office
products. Does the message mention BCM? If not, then there's probably
some problem with the Office license validation or authentication, or
whatever the heck it's called. I know this has been a problem ofr some
users that started with the 90-day version of Office, then bought a
license, or upgraded from one version Office to another; e.g. Home to
Pro.

If that message is specific to BCM, then your best bet is to reinstall
BCM. First uninstall it, then remove these from the Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM

Run Outlook and the other Office apps that showed that message, to
ensure that BCM is not really gone.

Then install BCM.
