Cannot create offline database

S

Steve B

I have a Windows 7 Pro PC with Outlook 2007 and BCM 2007 sharing the BCM
database. We have no problem connecting and accessing the BCM database.
However, when trying to create an offline database on laptops, the process
gets to the end (the progress bar is at the end of the scale) and then fails
with the following:
business contact manager for outlook could not complete your last action or
actions please try again

I have tried it on several laptops, all with the same result. I have even
reformatted and reloaded Windows XP Pro and Office 2007 and BCM 2007 on one
laptop and tried to create the offline database.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Don't have a solution for you, but we can talk about it. A tool called
Process Monitor would be most helpful in this case. It would let us see the
network traffic and the file system and registry activity. You can launch it
from http://live.sysinternals.com (a Microsoft site) as procmon.exe

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Hi Steve,
When you mentioned that this only happened to laptops, a question
raised in my mind - are these laptops linked wirelessly?
Is your database "large", by that I mean larger than a few gigabytes
in size? This can easily happen with laptops on initial offline sync
on wireless network connection on large sized databases, and the
reason may be the sync process timing out. Try connecting your laptop
through ethernet cable and do the initial offline sync to boost the
data transfer rate, then go back to wireless connection for future
incremental changes. See if this helps,
John
