Error connecting to database engine- Business Cnct. Mgr.

Please help- I get an error message when I launch Outlook. It tells me that
there was an error connecting to the database engine for BCM. When I click
help, it tells me to call tech support. They want to charge me tons of cash
for help. ANyone know the fix for this? Thanks.

First thing to check is: is sqlserver process running?

You can find out by running Task Manager.

Hi Cooper

Can you try creating a new windows user account by going to control
panel,make sure the account that you create has admin privillages and check
whether it works

Thanks - but now how do you start the sql server? Where is it located on your
computer. I'm running a search, but can't find it.

It runs as an NT service.

Start menu|right click on My Computer|Manage|Services

Look for a service named MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ.

Right click menu to start it. With Properties you can set it to start
automatically.
