BCM preventing Outlook from opening

Since this morning, I've got an error message when I try to open my Outlook
2003. The message is:

Business Contact Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on
might be lost.
"Check-box" Restart Business Contact Manager
Please tell Microsoft about this problem....

If I check the box it will close Outlook and try to open again, and the same
message comes up again. If I uncheck it, Outlook just closes down. When I
restart Outlook, same BCM message box comes up. So I basically cannot go
into my Outlook now.

Any fix or solution?

Hi Ray,

Are you using BCM for Outlook 2003 or BCM for Outlook 2007?
BCM for Outlook 2007 will work only with Outlook 2007. If you are using BCM
for Outlook 2003, make sure you have all the latest BCM updates installed.

Thanks.

In my situation, until I can get a data base established I cannot perform any
upgrades without first setting up a datbase? I have unistalled and
reinstalled several times? Still to no avail. 2003 ofiice
professinal---running windows professional on dimension 8300 with 2 gigs of
ram.

This is the error message I am getting:

Office Update is unable to check for updates
The Office Update site is unable to check for updates on this computer. This
may be happening because of one of the following reasons:

You do not have administrative privileges for this computer.
There is a network problem and the detection catalog used by the Office
Update site failed to download. Go back to the Downloads home page and try
running detection again.
Windows Installer patch files (.MSP files) from previously applied Office
updates are missing from the \Windows\Installer hidden directory on your
computer. MSP files are stored on your computer after update installation
completes because they need to be referenced for future update operations. If
the files are missing you will not be able to apply Office updates. You may
also be unable to uninstall Office products as a result of the same problem.
Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for assistance.
You installed Office updates in the past and then upgraded from Windows
Installer version 1.0 to Windows Installer version 1.1. For more information
see the KB article Windows Installer May Prompt for Install Source if
Unavailable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Hi Durga,
Tx for your reply. I'm using Outlook 2003 and my Windows Updates is always
on so I will get all necessary updates when prompted (if applicable to me).
In any case I will check for updates.

For your info, a friend gave me a link (after my posting) thru searching the
web and that actually did the job for me.

http://groups.google.com.my/group/m...bcm+won't+start&rnum=2&hl=en#5f57ffb294cd2b0d

It was due to my installation yesterday of .Net 2.0 as it's needed for
another application. After I uninstalled .Net 2.0 my Outlook worked again.

HOWEVER, I need .Net 2.0 for my other application to work. Any ideas on how
to have both .Net 2.0 and my BCM/Outlook working together?

Thanks,
Ray
