Are you using XP Pro? If so there is a setting in the group policy
editor called "Remove Ballon Tips on Start Menu Items"
Go to start | run | type in gpedit.msc
Exand User Configuration | Administative Templates | Start Menu and Taskbar
I don't know if that will work for you or not. I enabled it and
rebooted, but they still showed up on my system. I do have some
services disabled so I don't know if it didn't work because of that or
something else in my configuration or it just doesn't do what it says it
will do.
I have XP Home Edition. I bought it several months ago. It's really only a
small annoyance - those quicklaunch balloons. I like to wander along my
quicklaunch icons with the mouse arrow, until I find the one I'm looking
for, and this is where those balloons a re a nuisance. I am trying to get
into the habit of leaving the mouse arrow nearby until I spot the icon I
want
