BAD sound trouble.. PLEASE HELP!

Hello,
I am having MAJOR sound problems. The troubleshooter doesn't help at all. I
know where the problem is and when I click 'reinstall driver' it searches for
a CD-ROM to install it, which I don't have and didn't come with the computer.
The sound was already on the computer so I don't know why it needs a computer
CD.. No sound comes out at all on my computer and I've tried everything..
please help!

The first step is to identify the Audio chipset/manufacturer of your
sound function:
Right-click "My Computer" > Manage > Device Manager > Sound, Video
....
The manufacturer & card/chipset should be shown.

Then go to that manufacture's website and find the driver download
for that sound card/chipset. Download it on your machine and follow
the instructions to install it.

HTH,
John
