I just hooked up a new set of PC Stereo Speakers to my computer,,,I now have
a popping sound which occurs intermedditly coming out of the speakers,,,never
had this promblem with and old set of speakers that I had hooked to computer
before buying these new ones,,,I have hooked the speakers to portable CD
player and the sound is great,,(no humming or popping noises at all),,
could there be an issue with interference from moniter or from computer
itself or as my sound card all of a sudden gone bad,,don't know,,,,anyone who
might know of a solution or has experenced this before,,please help!!!
don't want to return these because they sound great as long as they are not
hooked into my computer....

The first thing to do is to check with the manufacturer or accompanying
brochure if these speakers are shielded. If not, then you are getting
interference from your monitor or the PC/soundcard itself. You can
surf the Net for answers by searching Google for a resolve. Another
place to check is if the speakers are near your microphone, you may
want to mute it.

I wouldn't condemn your speakers just yet. I have also got an irregular
popping noise from my speakers that comes in short burts almost like morse
code. Funny thiong is its only just started after I installed some updates
from Microsoft!

My machine recently crashed and I decided to reformat the hard drive and
start again. Strangely the problems all started when I installed service
pack 3. Computer kept failing to load windows and continually rebooted.
Anyway after reloading the software all was woking fine, no popping until I
loaded the updates. Not sure what they were but one was IE7. As I havent
changed any hardware I know its not my speakers or other hardware issues. I
therefore think its a software problem. Can anyone help?

I had this problem too. Creative audigy and x-fi are known for having this
problem. Mine went 1.5 years ago after a microsoft update. I contacted
Creative and they gave me the run around because it was past the warrenty
period. There web site gave me the run around too. I tried updating sound
drivers too and a fresh install of Windows and the sound blaster
rivers --- no luck.
