Backup solution - Individual Files/Folders

I have been using 'My Own Backup' v2.1 for ages now and it works fine on XP.
The orginal homepage appears to have dissapeared but if anyone is interested
can also be found here

http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7023,00.asp

Problem.....

The zip files it produces are now over 800meg which means I have to split
them before burning them to CD.

Does anyone know of a backup solution that will allow me to backup
files/folders to a zip file AND also set the size limit for the zip file.

I don't need complete harddrive cloning/backup just the ability to backup
import files to a zip file.

Tried pricelessware.

Many thanks...

I would try to reduce the zipfile size. For example the freeware Cobian
backup from http://www.educ.umu.se/~cobian/ allows you to filter backups
so one operation backs up (and creates a zipfile for) only files with
selected extensions and another operation backs up other selected
extensions. I guess myownbackup will too.

Cheers Livewire, My main problem is one of my backup sets is my digital
camera folder which I don't want to filter out any files. I could say create
two back up sets with would work, but would mean i would have to keep
changing the config everytime a new subfolder was added. For now i'm using
IZArc to split the larfe zip files. I could just buy a DVD writer instead :)
Thanks as well for pointing me to Cobian backup.
Cheers

You can't use MOB to set zip sizes but it *can* be set to span discs.
Perhaps that is satisfactory?
MOB
Set Options
Compression Options
Disc Span

Another possibility is Burn to the Brim. Been a while since I've used it
but basically it lets you select a group of files and/or folders and then
arranges things so that the selections will fit on one or more CDs, the size
of which can be set by user.

It does no burning; after it does it's thing the user simply drags each
virtual, optimized CD to the burning program. Now, I don't know if that
same virtual CD could be dragged to a zip program or not but it might work.
If not, BTTB can be set to physically move the files and *that* could be
zipped; problem is, you wouldn't want to move the files...perhaps there is
an option to copy rather than move. As I said, it is a possibility...
