My guess is: no, maybe. If all programs are closed, try shutting down any
services as well. Is this a server? Is anyone connected remotely?

hth.

I believe some third part backup apps have this ability eg Genie-Soft. They
have a downloadable trial version. The plug-in required is also avilable for
trial.

In a word, no. Not without a third party program. Does the .pst file
show as open if Outlook is closed on that system? More info needed!

Cheers,

Cliff

MS automatic backup backup program reports file in use by other program.
Work around: Export the .pst to another file; auto backup will work after
that. I could not find the process that was locking the outlook.pst file,
but this solution, while NOT elegant, works.

In addition to unknown locking process(es) Copernicus Desktop locks files,
and must be disabled before running (auto) backup of .pst files! Small price
to pay for luvverly search tool!
