Have searched and searched (googled) for information on how to copy
(backup) open files in W2K. Found NOTHING saying how it can be done. I
know XP software can use VSS thus copy open files, but W2K has nothing?

Anybody ever run into how to do it?

TIA

When you type this into a Google search box

"Shadow copy" "Windows 2000"

then one of your first hits is this page:

Pegasus, I went to the MS site and looked at Shadow Copy Client. Also
read a bunch of information on it during google searches and am still
not sure it will provide the functionality needed. Will this software
allow me to copy an OPEN file (locked) *IN* W2K from within that same
OS? In other words, I'd not be accessing a shadow volume from another
PC nor another PC accessing W2K for the backup, all of this is while
working with one PC, one OS (W2K) which has an open file.

Thanks

The web page I gave you says that this Shadow Copy Client will work for
Win2000. To be absolutely sure that it does I would have to test it but then
so could you. It's easy - just open a Word or an Outlook file, then back it
up, then restore it and see what happens.
