I am running Windows 2000 professional. I installed an external drive
and want to back up my primary hard drive on it. I can copy to it but I
want to do sequential backups. I experimented with the backup facility
which comes with W2K once saving some files to my secondary drive. It
saved things as bkf files I think it was. When I used backup for the
external drive it the setup talked about saving to files or media. I
entered the path, /G:\hold/ and things seemed to work. However, I found
that everything stopped due to file size. I examined the external drive
and I found one huge file had been saved.
Questions: Does the W2K backup program work on external drives? Would I
be better off using third party software? If I went to Windows XP home
would I be able to use that backup program or do I need W XP Pro?
