Aloha all, I'm just trying to figure out how to back up
my system in WinXP. My limitations: I have a factory
installed XP OS, thus no disks/CD's available. Home
Edition, not Professional. Found Kelly Theriot's hints
page through the Microsoft site, but of course, without
software in hand, I'm stuck. Any advice?

It depends on what you mean by "backup your system". If you want a good
image of your system, just use something like Norton Ghost or BootItNG.
Otherwise, you should just be backing up your data and burning it onto
a CD-R. Post back with more details of what you want to do for more
help.
