Hi does anyone know how to switch off authentication for a windows server 2003 machine (this machine is not running AD, its just acting as a normal pc but happens to have windows 2003 installed on it).

I have four machines workgrouped when i try to access a file on the windows 2003 machine from any of the three others I always get prompted for a login username and password before I can get to the file, does anyone know how to switch this off ?

Hi Chris,

Since you are ruunning server, why not set up a domain?

I don't think it can be switched off. The solution that comes to mind:

set up a separate account for each user on each machine.

This is why workgroups are hard to manage.

Make sure all useraccounts exist on the W2K3.
