I have a new windows 2000 workgroup conected by a switch
and patch pannel. I connnected this workgroup to an
existing router that is apart of a existing workgroup
running windows 98. I added the the gateway IP and a 2nd
IP that is in the range of the 98 workgroup to a win2000
machine in the 2000 workgroup. i can ping the 98 machine
but cannot map to it. i cannot ping from the 98 to the
2000 machine. i have set up shares on the 98. Does anyone
have any suggestions on what I have to do to map a drive
from the 2000 machine to the 98. the workgroups have to
stay the way they are and i need to send files from the
2000 machine to the 98 machine weekly.

can you put them all in the same IP range? Also remember to put the
username/passwords on ALL the machines the same......consider a server .

No, can't use the same range. I will check the usernames
and passwords. Thanks, What about the host file? Is there
anything that it can do for me?

Actually, I have an additional IP address on the 2000
machine that is in the same range of the 98 workgroup. I
also have the gateway of the 98 workgroup on the 2000
machine.
