I am having windows 2000 server with DNS. The IP series is
like 80.0.0.13 . I am having windows 2000 professional
which is another server having IP as 172.17.1.64 . This is
not DNS but work as workgroup. Now I want to see both on
each other. I tried it through gateway. By providing IP of
both the machines. But couln't succeed.

By providing IP of 80 to 172 and 172 to 80 in the gateway
I am able to see only the workgroup name on 2000 prof.
machine. But unable to see the users.

Similarly how can I see on win 98 machine both the DNS and
workgroup ?

Kindly help me.

Hello Anand,

For the Windows 2000 Server with DNS to be able to see the Windows 2000 Pro
machine, both of the machines need to be configured in the same workgroup.

Then you have to configure the IP addresses of both the machines to be on
the same subnet
and then you will have no problem accessing one machine from the other.

Once you do the above, you will be able to see each other.
Then using Computer Management on the Windows 2000 Server,
you can connect to the Windows 2000 Pro machine and then access the Users on
the 2000
machine.

You can do the same from the Windows 2000 Pro machine to the Windows 2000
Server.
