I recall that yesterday I also had a lot of auto updates from Windows and
perhaps this is the cause of the problem. I have emailed AVG and will
also
phone microsoft tomorrow to establish whether it was the update which
caused
the problem. I did not get a restart message at all - simply that the AVG
update was unsuccessful so I am tipping it might be a Windows update
problem
which is the cause of my dilemma. Will wait until I speak to them
tomorrow
before I do a System Restore ad I do not want to go down that path unless
absolutely necessary, being the computer idiot that I am
I still have
no
idea what a .bin file is except I have a feeling that it is a binary file
which is obviously important to the running of the programmes and
therefore I
feel that the problem might be a Microsoft one. Anyway thanks again -
will
come back here and report solution WHEN I get it - hopefully tomorrow
