suddenly the automatic name checking and completion feature in outlook is not

How could we?
These two functions are completely different and unrelated. That two
unrelated functions would just stop working at once for no reason is
inexplicable.
You posted nothing to indicate how each function is not working.
You did not post your Outlook version.
You did not post what you did just before "suddenly."

I was having the same problem. I tried the fix at the below website and it
didn't fix the problem.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287623

Only deleting the Outlook Address book from the profile and then re-adding
it fixed the problem. Do the following while in Outlook:

Click Tools
E-mail accounts
View or change existing directories or address books
Next
Click on Outlook Address book and then remove
Yes
Finish

Now add the address book back:
Tools
E-mail accounts
Add a new directory or address book
Next
Add
Click Additional Address Books
Next
Select Outlook Address Book
Next
OK
Finish
Close Outlook
Restart and check to see if it fixed it.

Sorry the other response posted was of no help at all. It sounds like some
people are very full of themselves.

How could we? I UNDERSTOOD YOU.
These two functions are completely different and unrelated. That two
unrelated functions would just stop working at once for no reason is
inexplicable. I DON'T CARE - IT HAPPENS.
You posted nothing to indicate how each function is not working. WHAT ELSE
IS THERE TO POST - IF IT DOESN'T WORK, IT DOESN'T WORK.
You did not post your Outlook version. SO WHAT, I DON'T KNOW WHAT VERSION
HE HAS AND AT LEAST I POSTED SOMETHING TO TRY INSTEAD OF ALL THESE STUPID
CONDESCENDING QUESTIONS.
You did not post what you did just before "suddenly." MOST PEOPLE DON'T
KNOW WHAT THEY DID TO CHANGE ANYTHING.
