Auto Text Formatting

I have created an auto text with a mixture of tables and paragraphs. There
are Heading Styles used. When I then insert the auto text it applies a bullet
to the Heading 3 and 2 paragraphs which are in the table. WHHHHYYYYYYYY

How can you turn off the so called "intuitive" formatting of Word 2003. I
have shut down the usual suspects but it continues to frustrate.

I have no idea what's going on with your Autotext issue--way beyond my
experience. However, I may be able to suggest an answer to your other issue
that might possibly fix your Autotext problem.

You may have Word set to do your format-thinking for you. In my experience
it rarely does what I want. You can take control! GO to Tools, AutoCorrect
Options. Open the tab AutoFormat as you Type. In the section Apply as You
Type uncheck all the entries. Except maybe Border Lines (this setting
allows you to make a horizontal line --it is a border line rather than typed
characters--from margin to margin by hitting the underline, dash or equal
sign a few times followed by Enter). Also uncheck everything in
Automatically as you Type.

Now go to Tools, Options, AutoCorrect Options again. This time open the
AutoFormat tab. Under Apply uncheck everything.

That should pretty much leave YOU in charge of formatting. Of course, there
is more to formatting (e.g., styles) but this should at least be a start.

I have seen some of the MVPs on this BB refer people to some articles on
this subject and youk may want to search for them.

How are these styles defined in the document into which you're inserting the
AutoText?
