I want to start a couple of programs automatically and I
have put them in the startup folder but one of the
programs for some reason will not start. I still have to
start it by double clicking the icon on the desktop.
Would putting it in a pif file help and if so how do you
do a pif file and where would it go...startup folder?

Normally, you create links in the Startup folder to programs that live
elsewhere. Could this be part of the problem? Likewise, the PIF can live
with the program, or be in the shortcuts folder. But PIFs are not normally
necessary under Windows 2000, except possibly for some DOS apps. What
program is it that you want to start?

There are some other ways to start a program at startup, including starting
it from the registry RUN keys, or as a Scheduled Task.
