Auto empty Temporary Internet Folder

T

Tom

I have checked to "Empty Temporary Internet Folder when
close browser", in the Options/Advance menu. However,
the Temporary Internet Folder is never emptied when the
browser is closed. I have to manually empty the folder.
Does this option not work or am I missing something?

I am using Windows XP and IE 6.0 with all patches and
updates installed as of today.

Thanks, Tom

Tom,
When you select that option, it makes the following Registry change:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Cache]
"Persistent"=dword:00000000

where: "Persistent"=dword:00000000 = "Empty Temporary Internet Folder when
close browser"
By default (option - unchecked) = "Persistent"=dword:00000001

Verify all browsers are closed, open Regedit and check the above.
Edit if needed, [insert disclaimer] always Export before editing

If the above is correct, then perhaps your cache folders are corrupt?
