Audio problem

My computer been infected by various trojans and a few
viruses, but I got rid of all of them (I guess)... but,
now.. when I try to play an mp3 or a video, the sound
consumes 100% cpu,if Idisable the sound... the videos
play normally... but with sound, they play very
slow.Please help.

Since you didn't tell us what av you used to clean up your computer and
what viruses you had, we can't give you specific advice. First, you
must make sure that your computer is really free of all viruses and
spyware. If you are 100% sure this is the case, reinstall your
soundcard drivers. If this doesn't do it for you, repost with a lot
more information. If your computer was badly infected, of course there
is always the possibility that a lot of system files were damaged. You
can run the System File Checker (Start>Run and type "sfc /scannow" and
have your Windows cd available), but sometimes the operating system
will be so damaged a clean install is necessary. There's no way to know
if this is necessary from your post.
