WMP Audio Problem

Hi,

XPSP2, WMP11.

It seems that WMP has stopped playing audio on my T60 Thinkpad. Regardless
of the type of file that I launch, it appears to play fine, but there is no
sound. This only happens in media player. I can play wav files in Control
Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / Sound Scheme, and video embedded in web
pages (such as Youtube) play fine.

Downgrading to WMP 10 made no difference. Likewise, reinstalling version 11
still leaves me with no audio.

I'd appreciate any suggestions you have to offer.

Regards,
Ken

What changes were made to the system (software / hardware) right before this
problem occurred? Did you try a system restore to when the sound worked? I
would suggest you post to the widows medial player newsgroup as well.

You figured out the problem? If so care to share the solution? Something
muted maybe?

Within Media Player,

Tools / Options / Devices / Speakers / Properties...

I somehow managed to redirect the speaker output from the SoundMAX audio
device to a Bluetooth audio device. Changing it back to the SoundMax audio
card resolved the problem.

Cheers
