Upgraded AOL 8.0 to AOL 9.0 and found out Internet Explorer gives a
"Page not found" error with my Linksys BEFW11S4 router. Every other
combo works (8.0 + Router + IE, 8.0 + IE (no router), 9.0 + IE (no
router), etc.) It was just 9.0 + Router + IE that did not get along.
I mean, thousands of people are using this combo so it has to be
something simple. After countless of calls to AOL and Linksys tech
support that suggested time consuming (and unsuccessful) solutions, I
tried something simple that eventually worked.
Went into AOL 9.0 and deleted all the "locations" which were
automatically detected and installed when I upgraded to 9.0. Then
powered off (disconnected the power cords) to the DSL modem, Router
and computer for about 5 minutes. Powered up the modem, router, then
computer (in that order). Brought up AOL 9.0, went to Expert Setup
and had it redetect my Internet connection devices. It found the
"Home Network". Logged in, brought up Internet Explorer and was
Googling in no time.
I have other suggestions which were emailed to me if anyone's
interested, but now everything's great.
