Yes, AB, I'm still around but this website is a nightmare now that the spammers have taken over. I assume that it's all generated by AI and poor Mucks can't get them off quick enough before hundreds more appear.

It's all just a bit weird. All this spam and no Admins about. Normally you would see Admins online, but the last few weeks nobody. I sent @Ian a message, but no reply. I wonder if maybe the Admins are locked out and can't do anything.

I do not spend a lot of time cruising forums anymore. Seem to spend most of my time over at Scots's which is spam free at the moment.

The amount of spam I saw here made me think that the site was in terminal decline. Glad to see that there is some life left in it. Hope the spammers get sent to hell where they belong.

Anyways all the best to you all. I have fond memories of my time here. If the spam gets too much or the site dies come over to Scot's where I am sure you will get a warm welcome.

Although I bought Skyrim back in 2014 I have only just played it for the first time this winter. Recently I have been seduced by modding my first ever play of Skyrim SE and once set up and working i doubt if I will be seen anywhere on the net for the foreseeable future.

This ship is getting old though… The Black Pearl V3 was built in 2014, so I think it’s approaching the end of its serviceable life

The Black Pearl V3 sounds like a great candidate for MX or Arch to me. Both will catch the wind and fly along.

That won’t sail for me! I know everyone is currently singing Linux praises, but it’s missing one critical feature:

DirectX 12.

Yes, I know we have Proton and DXVK, but as far as I know, it does not support DX12. Even if it did, it still isn’t gonna be as good as the Windows native implementation.

A hobby project I’m working on is to develop a 3D renderer from scratch. Vulkan is kinda decent, but it ain’t anywhere near as good as DX12. And don’t talk to me about OpenGL!

DX12 is a must have for what I’m trying to do. So I’m stuck with Windows 10 and had to pay for the extended support through till 2028. Maybe hardware prices will come down by then?

Yup, it happens to all of us. But I do make a point of getting out walking every day and am now averaging about 3 miles a day (sometimes more, in fact, 6 yesterday). So, that works out at 1000 miles a year . Which isn't bad as I only drive about 2000 miles a year now. Luckily, it's only a half mile walk to the pub.

I had both hips replaced about 7 years ago (I'm 67). I'm pain-free and can do almost all I was able to do before.
Make sure to do all the physical therapy prescribed. I continue to do those exercises even now.
