Antispyware hugging all the CPU

I have found out a situation where the PC freezes with all the CPU being used
by the "gcaDtServ.exe", that I believe is part of MS Antispyware.
The PC freezes when i select a large number of files in a folder (any
folder) and right click on the files to get the Properties, say.
The minute I do this I can see in Windows Task Manager that the CPU usage of
the "gcaDtServ.exe" shouts up to 99%, killing the system. Ending the process
will not release the memory and I'll have to shut down and reboot.
Has anyone experienced something similar or knows whether there is a way to
avoid this (without taking Antispyware off the PC, that is)?

My problem is similar but slightly different:
- CPU is 100%, but uses all "background cycles, so doesn't degrade system
toooo much!
- Offending process is GcasServ. It can be terminated without apparent ill
effect, and comes back when MSAS control panel is activated.

I haven't been able to determine a pattern as to when this happens and what
causes it, but only when I look at my CPU monitor, which is not that often.

It's been going on for several weeks if I recall.

I have also noticed that my clock is going slow the last couple of days by
about 20 mins, but am not sure whether that's hardware or the fact that I've
been reunning a numlber of cpu intensive programs for the last several days.
