Anti-Virus Comparison

Wasn't making any claims about the efficacy of any product...just responding
to the claim that Trend was number one.

FWIW, Symantec does work, and offers protection as good as any of the other
products named in this thread. There is nothing significantly better or
worse about any of them. They all do their job.
Sort of a Ford-Chevy-Chrysler type of situation.

Maybe the number one reference was virus detection capabilities, or some
other asset?

Haven't seen an a/v product provided
So, what did you mean by asking "me" "Did you miss this bit?"?

You qouted, "This is one of the most significant antivirus
vulnerabilities..."

And I countered by quoting, "It's not a real security vulnerability, as
this is the way antivirus scanners work..." from the same article.

There's the obvious answer to what I meant when I asked "Did you miss
this bit?". IOW the article contains contradictory opinions.

You ask me a question when the answer is obvious, yet you did not answer
my question.

Now answer my question, which you snipped out. You said, "some of the
better ones provide a means to sense virus activity based on past
methods without a definition."

My question:
"Do you mean Heuristic Analysis?"

Now I understand what you were asking - yes, that's one of the methods,
but it has limitations, it's also only about 70% effective.

Then what other methods are refering to?

Hi Jim,
I registered at this site, and attempted to look up AV VB100% software test
results by vendor. I'm not clear on whether or not test results on the
following platform (the only platform I found) "Windows Server 2003
Enterprise X64 version" are relevant for my standalone Windows XP Pro SP2 PC?
Might you be able to shed a little light on this subject?
