answering emails

Not in Windows XP. However, you might ask in a newsgroup specific to your
email client.

Not a true XP question.

Normally, you can send emails that "request read receipt..." but it
depends on the program used to write the email and the "receipinat"
needs send the optional "read" answer.
 
Not unless you ask them - you know voice to voice comms, even then they
could fib
