The fact is from the newest version release date to the day it
was pulled, was way too short for some people to even try the
program or even consider a donation???

I agree - i only donate to software which i either use intensely or
have been using for quite a few months - 3 to 6 months typically.

I suspect he got an unexpected big fat bandwidth bill in May and
June and that was the reaction...

I really thought that he changed his programs from donationware to
shareware because the people here pissed him off. There are lots of
donationware programs mentioned here. Some people regard them as
freeware...the donation is just if you want to say thanks. When you
jump on someone because he mentions that you can donate if you want to
and the program is not nagware it seems a little over the top.

Hey ..when I try to help someone and someone posts to say I misspelled a
word, or my URL was to long and wrapped, or I mis-quoted something,
I could take it wrong and be upset myself.

I started thinking something odd was going on in alt.comp.freeware
When you
jump on someone because he mentions that you can donate if you
want to and the program is not nagware it seems a little over
the top.

I am always surprised when someone reacts negatively to some detail
in a soft or their website (and by that i dont mean constructive
criticism, of course) - those software authors who release their
software in one way or another don't owe us anything!!!

The trouble is that they were nagware!

I understand that is may be frustrating when you make a free program and
you get little or no donations but that fact is that you did make a free
program and that probably led to it's success. If you are out to make
money then you should go the shareware route. If you are simply
creating the program because you like to program and/or to create a
program that helps people with a function then you should go the
freeware route. I can say though that many people are greatful to those
who create freeware programs. Thanks to all who do.
