Griffster

Hi there all,

Problem is as follows - I have a number of laptops all on the same wireless
network with the same Windows mail settings. I cannot send from any and all
recieve the following error message:

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Re: Notes', Account:
'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '554 Sorry, your non-local IP address (81.101.37.178) is not
allowed to send email via me.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554,
Error Number: 0x800CCC6F

Have checked out the usual trouble shooting guides and threads from this
community - all to no avail!! Hope someone may be able to help??

"Non-local" means you are connecting via another ISP,
Virgin Media in this case. As a general rule, the port 25 SMTP
server you are using must belong to the connection provider.

As a possible workaround, try this:.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

If no improvement, I suggest you substitute the SMTP server belonging
to your connection (Virgin). Let us know if you need more help.
