Cannot not send email

I cannot send email from my Microsoft mail account. I keep getting the message:

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'hi', Account: 'mail.insightbb.com',
Server: 'mail.insightbb.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554
mail.insightbb.com', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error
Number: 0x800CCC6F

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Assuming you're connected to the internet via insightbb.com and this is NOT
a sudden, new problem...

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection, it may be causing the problem, and even Symantec says
it's not necessary:

<QP>
Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that
are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans
incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and
email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To
make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep
Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have
the most recent virus definitions.

Try this:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

INSIGHTBB confirmed that recent Updates from Microsoft and Norton have caused
a conflict with Insightbb's mail servers. There is NO fix at this time.
They were unable to confirm when a fix would be available.

They suggested that everyone try rebooting into Safe Mode with Networking
option. Open your email client and try sending all messages sitting in
Outbox. This worked for me but it is a major hassle.

Good luck.

If that is indeed the cause, the simplest solution is to uninstall Norton.
It has a long history of becoming even less compatible when Windows
updates are released.
